Following the Unify phase out, what happens to businesses who are perfectly happy with their HiPath 3000/5000 V9 or OpenScape Business V1 system?
Following the recent phase out of the product HiPath 3000/5000 V9 in all international markets including Germany and USA, the phase out process for the superseding product OpenScape Business V1 has now started.
Unify (formerly Siemens) have ceased all sales activities relating to new sales and expansions of both OpenScape Business V1 and HiPath 3000/5000 V9, and are no longer offering new service contracts. While existing rental agreements and service contracts will not be extended beyond 31st July 2015.
Successor Product/Solution
This phase out has been initiated due to the release of the successor product OpenScape Business V2, to be launched in July 2015. Unify aim to increase forecasted revenue and sales volumes with the new OpenScape Business V2 in all countries and urge their customers to migrate and upgrade OpenScape Business V1 and HiPath 3000/5000 V9 systems to OpenScape Business V2.
For all installed OpenScape Business V1 systems, which are covered under Software
Assurance, at the time of the release of V2, Unify will automatically provide a V2 system upgrade license free of charge. But what if you are happy with your existing OpenScape Business V1 or HiPath 3000/5000 V9 system?
From July 2015, only OpenScape Business V2 can be ordered from Unify , with the end of hardware and software support scheduled to follow on the 31st October 2015. From this point error correction will only be provided for OpenScape Business V2. What this means is that if your business is currently using HiPath 3000/5000 V9 systems to OpenScape Business V2 and you would like to purchase new equipment, it will no longer be available from Unify or their partners.
